The occasion is marked in a four-day ‘Rajasthan Festival’. This year the Rajasthan Festival was conducted between the 28th of March to the 30th of March.
The festival organises various cultural programs, marathons, air shows, camel tattoo shows, short film festival, Bhajans, and Qawwalis that are exciting and fun.
Here is a little bit about this fantastic state:
Rajasthan is easily the largest state of India. But before Independence, it wasn’t just one whole state but there were around 21 small and big princely states. The challenge then was to unify them all.
On the day of Indian Independence 15th August 1947, the princely states were annexed to the union of India, but their unification was only accomplished in April 1947 in various phases.
The royal lifestyles of the Rajput Maharajahs are to be thanked for the rich, romantic past of the beautiful state. As of today, the state boasts pastel cities, spicy cuisine, multi-coloured turbans, fascinating wildlife and vibrant festivals enough to whip up the colours to fill up every artist’s palette.
There is so much diversity in this state, you might just see a camel dressed as a Rajasthani bride or an entire community living around a haunted fort or even a palace that changes colours according to the time of the day.
Even with all the chaos and heat, Rajasthan is truly a beauty to behold.
