Four days of craft lager in Manchester with the UK’s biggest lager festival all set to begin on the 5th of April, 2019. Taking place between April 5 and April 7 2019, there’ll be more than 50 styles of lager to drink your way through, from 20 of the world’s best craft lager breweries.
‘We Are Lager’ will take place at the Grade II-listed Victorian building Upper Campfield Market, just off Deansgate.
The entire event will be soundtracked by an all-star line-up by club night Funkademia, including DJ sets from Everything Everything, Luke Unabomber from Electric Chair, Funkademia vs Girls on Film, Take Me To Church, and Hattie Pearson.
The festival will include Manchester Union Brewery, the city’s first and only dedicated craft lager brewery, which just launched in January.
The event will bring other breweries involved will come from all over the world, including Bristol’s Lost & Grounded, Germany’s Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, and Donzoko, Lervig from Norway, Kona from Hawaii, and Manchester’s own Cloudwater and Geipel Brewing and will comprise showcasing numerous styles of lager, including some one-off specials, with more to be announced nearer the time.
Not just beer, which there will be plenty of, the event will have a dedicated gin bar plus wine, prosecco and soft drinks.
Jamie Scahill, co-founder of Manchester Union Brewery and We Are Lager, said: “Lager has had a bad reputation over the past 30 years and We Are Lager is aiming to change this by showcasing the best lager the world has to offer as our ethos is Drink Better Lager.
Some of Manchester’s best street food vendors will serve food, alongside pop-ups from local restaurants with paired lagers.
There are six sessions to choose from between the Thursday and the Sunday.
