The beautiful tropical island of Hawaii has seen a massive climate change. For the first time ever, it has snowed in Hawaii
Yes, you heard us right. Hawaii is now covered in a thick layer of beautiful, pure white snow. The land of volcanic beaches, tropical foliage, waterfalls and a warm and sunny climate is covered in snow!
Hawaii is the island of dreams. From the romantic destination Maui, the off-beaten paths that are perfect for trekkers to hustle – bustle of Oahu, Hawaii is the perfect spot to let loose and relax.
Brilliant outdoor experiences courtesy of Hawaii’s spectacular beaches and lush valleys include surfing, hiking, skydiving, helicopter tours, paddle sports, whale-watching and zip lining. There are so many attractions in Hawaii that make it beautiful – Manta rays, old sugar tunnels, lunar landscapes and what not!
Although Hawaii experiences snow sometimes, it has never ever settled on a state park. Normally only the mountains get dusted a few times a year but snow rarely settles on the ground. This is because the snow level does not fall below 9,000 feet in Hawaii. Six inches of snow were reported to have fallen at Haleakala summit on Saturday night.
Which is why the snow usually prefers to accumulate at the top of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa!
Experts are saying that it could be the lowest elevation snow ever in this state with it currently at 6,200 feet.
Unfortunately, right now snow isn’t the only problem in Hawaii. Winds with the force of a gale, extremely cold temperatures, and enormous waves have been brought in due to the strong low pressure system.
Although citizens of Hawaii seen to be enjoying this unexpected surprise, this just goes on to show how much of a serious threat climate change is. It is about time we got a wakeup call.
