The annual Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships with world-class players is happening right now. While the 19th Edition for Women finishing tomorrow and the 27th Men’s edition starting on the 25th of February to go on till 2nd March, 2019.
This tennis championship is hosted by the ATP and Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) World Tours and is a completely un-missable event. It is highly popular and has seen players like Rafael Nadal, Venus Williams and even Novak Djokovic.
Recognized all around the world as a prime sporting event, it has earned itself many awards. Owned by Dubai Duty Free who also organises the entire event, and held under the patronage of the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the championship has 27 years in the ATP tournament and 19 years in the WTA tournament under its belt.
Certain to wow the huge crowds drawn to this spectacular event, the two week long championship is marked by fierce competition and nonstop entertainment for the specatators who wait with baited breath.
Both events will be held at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The ticket prices start from AED 55 only.
The tournament once finished with the WTA Premier 5 women’s event will follow with the ATP 500 men’s competition.
In the semi-final to be held today, HsiehSu-wei will go against Petra Kvitová and Elina Svitolina will go against Belinda Bencic.
This year 7 time Dubai Tennis winner Roger Federer is all set to win another title. Last year’s winner Bautista Agut will return too as well as Simona Halep who has made her mark as one of the world’s top 10 players.
