Work pressure, family commitments, or lack of company, what’s your excuse not to travel. Travelling is fun and you would agree with me when I say that, we Indians need to travel more. It gives us a much needed breather and teaches us cuisines and cultures of other countries. The world is out there for us to explore. Here are 5 must watch travel movies to inspire wanderlust in you!
1 . Into The Wild — America:
Christopher McCandless, a young graduate, decides to renounce all his possessions and hitchhike across America. During his journey, he encounters several situations which change him as a person.
2. One Week – Canada:
A dire medical diagnosis prompts a young man (Joshua Jackson) to search for meaning in his life via a cross-country trek across Canada on a vintage motorcycle.
3. In Bruges — Belgium:
A very dark comedy, begins in Bruges (a beautiful medieval city in Belgium) with two Irish hitmen, Ray (Colin Farrell) and Ken (Brendan Gleeson) are standing in a city square checking out the scenery. Instantly we see that Ken is enchanted with Bruges while Ray loathes the place.
4. The motorcycle Diaries — South America:
On a break before his last semester of medical school, Ernesto “Che” Guevara (Gael García Bernal) travels with his friend Alberto Granado (Rodrigo De la Serna) from Brazil to Peru by motorcycle. The two men soon witness the great disparities in South America, encountering poor peasants and observing the exploitation of labor by wealthy industrialists. When they reach a leper colony in Peru, Ernesto’s values have changed so much that he sides with the sufferers, forgetting his own comfort.
5. Romancing the Stone – Colombia:
Joan Wilder receives a treasure map from her recently murdered brother-in-law. Her sister, Elaine, is kidnapped in Colombia and her kidnappers, Ira and Ralph, demand the treasure map as ransom.
